The research group FOR 2559 “Multi-sectoral Regional Microsimulation Model” (MikroSim) develops a microsimulation model of the German Population at individual and household level. MikroSim is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Researchers from Trier University and the University of Duisburg-Essen work in close cooperation with the German Federal Statistical Office to realize the project.
Starting point is an anonymous synthetic data set from the preparatory studies for the 2011 census (Prof. Dr. Münnich). This synthetic data set will be extended by the use of numerous cross-sectional and longitudinal data sets from empirical social research as well as from official statistics. The simulation model is intended to assess the impact of various socio-political and demographic development scenarios at municipal and regional level.
