MikroSim is a joint research project. Statisticians and social scientists from Trier University and the University of Duisburg-Essen are working in close cooperation with the German Federal Statistical Office. Collaboration is promoted by joint colloquia, workshops, conference visits and research stays at the other locations.
MikroSim is divided into five projects: Subprojects 1, 2 and 3 comprise methodological-technical components, while subprojects 4 and 5 focus on theoretical aspects.
Figure: Overview of the Project
Under the direction of Ralf Münnich (Trier University) and Rainer Schnell (University of Duisburg-Essen), the base population is created (subprojects 1 and 2) and projected into the future by simulating socio-demographic events (subproject 3).
On this basis, the working groups directed by Johannes Kopp (Trier University) and Petra Stein (University of Duisburg-Essen) analyze questions on family and care and the integration of migrants into the labor market.
The team of Markus Zwick (German Federal Statistical Office) supports the project by providing data and advising on the development of security concepts.
